Hart holds a B.E.E degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Stanford University. According to Google Scholar, he's among the world's most-cited authors in the fields of computer science, artificial intelligence and robotics, and additionally holds over 125 patents covering a wide range of artificial intelligence and software inventions. He is a Fellow of the IEEE, the Association for Computing Machinery, the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence, and the Rensselaer Alumni Association, and is a recipient of the IEEE Information Society Golden Jubilee Paper Award. Additionally, he is a member of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and SRI International Hall's of Fame.
